Winter in the French Alps
We're in the dead of winter surrounded by snow in the mountains around Chambery. Bernard loves to take hikes in the snow and here are some lovely photos taken on the hikes. We've had record snows in the past month so it's been almost impossible to hike in the mountains. When there's that much snow it can be dangerous. But alas, it is beautiful.

Tours of the French Alps: Mont Blanc and Chamonix
Here's another day from our Tour of the French Alps (www.french-alps-tours.com). We spent the day enjoying the views from atop the Auguille du Midi Mountain top and strolling the streets of Chamonix.

Tours of the French Alps - Col des Annes and Grand Bornand in the French Alps
As you might know, I lead Tours of the French Alps during the summertime (www.french-alps-tours.com). In September we had our first tour and one of our days was spent in the pastures and mountains of the Col des Annes and the village of Grand Bornand. We also visited a restored ancient chalet farm. Here are some photos of that day.

Strasbourg in Alsace, France
Strasbourg is a magical city with canals, colorful timbered architecture and an astonishing Cathedral with an astronomical clock. While it's a rather big city, it still has a small town feel. This is a city I'll be back to visit. See for yourself.

Rosheim in Alsace, France
We stayed in a gite in Rosheim in Alsace, France when visiting the area. It was a charming little village about 30 minutes outside of Strasbourg. Surprisingly, we found the boulangerie (bakery) there celebrating its 400 year anniversary. It is the oldest boulangerie in France! See this enchanting town:

Haut-Koenigsbourg Castle in Alsace, France
The Haut-Koenigsbourg Medieval Castle sits on the Wine Route outside of Strasbourg in Alsace, France. We made a stop to see it. It was very touristy and very difficult to find parking so expect a long walk to get to the castle, but it was still worth seeing.

Alsace, France: One of the Most Beautiful Regions of France
Alsace is without a doubt one of the most beautiful regions of France. With its both Swiss and German architecture dating back from Medieval times, the flavor of the towns is quaint, colorful and festive. Flowers adorn the windows and the pastel colors of the buildings give them a cheerful, airy feel. See for yourself.
