The Stone Buildings of Dordogne, France

Dordogne has ancient architecture and buildings. Some date back to the first millennium AD, and some are even older than that. I especially found the stone buildings, many with circular roofs, marvelous. The roofs stay up purely by balance and layering and do not use any mortar. Even the golden stone gite we stayed in near La Bugue dated back to the 1600's. Enjoy these stone monuments and maisons of Dordogne.

  1. Different regions, different color stones.
The way those houses are built, they are lucky they don't have earthquakes like we do in SoCal.
    The Southwest is just gorgeous.
