Languedoc - Roussillon, France: A Visit to Beziers and the Canal Locks

This spring we spent a week in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of France which is the southern central part of France, including the coastal areas. It doesn't have the charm or quaintness of the Cote d'Azur or Brittany regions, but it does offer a lot of history and beauty and great beaches. I especially liked the kindness and warmth and friendliness of the people - more than I've experienced in other parts of France. The Chambery and French Alps folks tend to keep to themselves and are very reserved. Here are some photos of Beziers, one of the towns we visited and the surrounding area, including the canals and locks.
