Backyard Excitement In Florida - Monarchs and Bee Swarms (video)

If you follow the blog, you know I raise Monarch butterflies. The video
has close-ups of these marvelous creatures. But I also had the surprise
visit of a bee swarm on my backyard tree for five days. Once they found a
new place for a hive, they left, but it was both beautiful and sobering
to have 15,000+ bees swarming above your head during breakfast. They
never showed any interest in me however and happily buzzed by my head
with no concern for my presence.  Two minute video.

Here are photos of the same bee swarm:

Bird Rookery Swamp - Hiking in the Everglades Nature, Florida -Part Two

This is the second and last post of the nature of Bird Rookery Swamp in Naples, Florida. The hike was full of wildlife, including four alligators. One alligator is Nellie, who likes to snooze on the trail. She is used to humans but it is still scary to be so close to such a huge 12 foot gator.
