Visit to Rennes-le-Chateau, Languedoc, France

Photos from atop the Rennes-le-Chateau in Languedoc, France. The lore says that Mary Magdalene came to the area from Alexandria with others. Lots of mysteries, intrigue and lore attached to the city and church.

This mountain is reported to be one of the three universe vortexes on earth.

Our 2018 Tour: Best of the French Alps and Provence Tour

Time to start planning your summer vacation! You can't beat Provence or the French Alps. Affordable, Michelin Star cuisine, small group. Operating since 2009. Read our reviews on the website.

Our 2018 Tour Schedule

June 9 - 16, 2018

Our most popular tour is  the Best of the French Alps and  Provence Tours.  See two of the most beautiful regions of France in one tour. From majestic mountains to crystal clear lakes, you will come to love the breathtaking alpine views. The colors of Provence with its lavender fields, blue shutters and red ochre hills will enchant you. The cuisine is excellent too, as experienced by our cheese and wine tastings and dinner at a Michelin Star restaurant. The history will seduce you with the regions’ Architecture and Art, Old Towns, Roman Ruins, and Medieval hilltop villages. If that wasn’t enough, see pastures filled with colorful flowers while listening to the sounds of Alps cow bells, or fields of green by a famous Abbey.

Couiza, A Small Village in Languedoc, France

I'm not a small town living kind of person but I don't mind a few months checking out the countryside and villages in the Valley just outside of Carcassonne. I have a 2-bedroom apartment with a canal view in Couiza. The town has a lovely Chateau with an upscale restaurant where a friend and I dined.

Fete du Musique (Festival of Music) in the tiny town of Couiza, France

This is the first festival I've experienced since moving back to France. This is in Couiza, France.  It's a tiny village so only one band on the streets. In bigger towns, there are many bands all over the streets.

The Fete du Musique is an event that happens in virtually every town, city and village of France on June 21st.

Sur Mesure Restaurant, Paris France (video review)

We were sent as 'mystery shoppers/eaters' to Sur Mesure, a Michelin Star restaurant located at a 5 Star Hotel in Paris. We had a 75 Euros lunch (there was also a choice of a 150 Euro lunch). We were to evaluate the food, service and decor. You can read the review on my blog www.american-in-france.com - just put Sur Mesure in the search bar. The cuisine is 'molecular cooking' which I did not find appealing. The service however was exceptional.  Really fascinating experience!

NEW Chambery, France EGuidebook: Gem of the French Alps

New Chambery, France Eguidebook: Chambery - the Gem of the French Alps

Written by me, this is the only Chambery Guidebook in English in existence (that I'm aware of). You can buy it for only $2.99 here:

https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/693671

Chambery is in the middle of the French Alps and is the capital of Savoie (Savoy for you English speakers). It's a pretty town, although admittedly, a little too quiet for my taste after 26 years of living in Los Angeles. But it is a lovely city with lots of charm and history. For instance, it was the home of the Shroud of Turin for many years. I bet you didn't know that!

Here are some photos of this pretty town. By the way, the ceiling of this church is actually Trompe L'oeil painting. It looks like the real thing but it isn't. Chambery is the home of the largest collection of Trompe L'oeil painting in Europe. You can find it all over the streets too. A little know fact about Chambery is that it held the Shroud of Turin for 70 years during its history. Read about it in my ebook.
